Wellcome Collection is about Medicine, Art, Life.

Wellcome Collection Study Visits are for groups of up to 30 students aged 14-16, ideally on a GCSE or A Level course.

A Study Visit lasts from 1030-1530 and includes in-gallery work and a special two hour workshop.

The current Study Visit is entitled Body Image and explores the science, history and art of body shape, and how artists, scientists and thinkers have tried to understand both the physical body and the way we feel about ourselves.

Body Image is suitable for science, art and humanities teaching. The key focus is on helping support the creative, communication and teamwork elements of the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills framework.

During a visit students will explore the galleries, do some intensive creative work and then attend a workshop to debate issues around the role of medical science in changing and ‘improving’ bodies and body image.

A key objective of a Study Visit is to encourage students to think creatively about the relationship between art and science, breaking down the traditional barriers in the context of medical and social science.

Study Visits must be booked in advance.
