Body Extensions – Gathering Ideas
Students will be asked to think about the possibilities of their bodies being augmented and manipulated by scientists and influenced by fashion or their peers.
They will think about how they would like scientists to develop new bodily parts for them – such as dancing legs, stretching to make you taller, built in chip to stop you biting your nails, infrared eyes to see at night etc - and write down their ideas.
|
13.30 |
Creating your Body Extension
This is a fun creative activity where students work in groups on one of their ideas for a body extension. They sketch out their idea working with pencils, paper, scissors, and then prepare a two minutes advertising campaign to "sell" their idea to the rest of the class who will pretend to be potential buyers.
|
14.30 |
Show their ideas
Now groups have to ‘sell’ their respective body extension ideas to the rest of the class by performing a live ‘TV commercial’, ensuring they have good reasons for their choices. The rest of the class, acting as potential buyers, will be able to ask clarification questions and comment. Once all the adverts have been seen the class will vote on which they think would be the most viable product.
The finished works will be photographed.
